Play & Joy are essential for climate work.  Why? Because when we tap into our playful nature, we create from a space of vitality and resilience. Survival mode makes us reactive. Joy makes us unstoppable.

Yes, I’m a scientist with a PhD. But science alone doesn’t hold all the answers (but it does hold a lot of them!). Magic is what lets me dream big, connect deeply, and make room for the hopeful voice of my soul. There are some truths that science just cannot explain yet, and I hold space for these truths to be a part of the future we create.  

Currently, the climate space is dominated by masculine energy. To co-create a just and sustainable future, we need the feminine perspective, vision, and way of life to take its rightful place.

In 2023, only 15 out of 133 world leaders participating at COP were women (REF). Of the delegates in attendance, just 34% identified as female—the same percentage as 10 years ago (REF). In the U.S., only 21 out of 319 climate tech funding rounds went to female-founded companies—just 6.6% (REF).

Climate change also has profound gendered impacts: it increases the rates of miscarriage, pregnancy complications, and neonatal deaths (REF). Women face disproportionate exposure to climate risks and are more vulnerable to associated violence and economic consequences (REF).

When I ask women why they hesitate to enter the climate space, I often hear the same story: microaggressions, dismissal, and judgments. Many describe how it’s easier to stay silent than to step into a male-dominated field that has yet to make space for the feminine voice.

But the feminine voice, perspective, experience, and creative nature are fundamental to solving the climate crisis. We need spaces where feminine energy feels safe to be witnessed, heard, and expressed. We need feminine leadership—the kind that nurtures and flows, that creates and draws harmony from chaos. Climate solutions must be combined with feminine solutions and aligned with a feminine economy.

It’s time for nurturing energy to rise—a kind that brings beautiful order to complexity, that dreams of beauty and brings it into being.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about gender. We all carry both energies within us, and it’s time we allow the feminine to co-create within the climate space. This energy is the soil that nurtures new life, the rain that sustains growth, and the rhythm that guides cycles of rest and renewal. When we welcome the feminine, we unlock the potential for sustainable, regenerative change, moving beyond linear action to embrace balance, care, and connection.

This is not just a buzzword. It's our compass. Pleasure activism teaches our bodies that engaging in climate work can feel good—and when it feels good, we keep showing up, we engage more deeply, we create, we honor, and we transform.  The genuine desires of our heart are the sacred purpose of the soul, swathed in pleasure.
