Emotional Paralysis in Climate Action

Climate change isn’t just an environmental crisis—it’s an emotional one. It triggers our fight, flight, or freeze response, leaving us stuck in fear, anxiety, rage, grief, guilt, shame, and overwhelm. These emotions are exhausting, and many people end up shutting down, avoiding the issue, or falling into denial in part because climate emotions are so difficult to manage. Without emotional literacy, our capacity for meaningful climate action shrinks.

How I Help:

I teach emotional literacy and provide practical tools to help people shift out of emotional paralysis. This isn’t about bypassing the realities of climate change—we need to witness the tragedies and frustrations unfolding around us. But we can’t let these emotions burn us out or prevent us from starting on our change journey.
